In 1966, Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries. During that time, he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift that operated on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" which was used to raise and lower the hoist. This mechanism really impressed clients and hence, the name was established.
Genie has moved into many new markets, since the demand for lifts and work platforms grew. Over time, when the demand for new machines to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself recognized in many new markets. For example, Genie went into manufacturing stick booms, telehandlers, light towers, man-lifts and articulated booms.
Genie decided to secure a partner who held the same values as a result of the economic slump in the start of the 2000s, when they partnered with Terex. This company has a history obtaining machine manufacturers throughout the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the initial years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Thus, all Genie machines continue to be sold under the Genie brand.
The company takes great pride in taking advice from and listening to their customers. Genie has always been continually dedicated to improving the efficiency and quality in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing exceptional support. These are the very work disciplines which have made Genie a trusted brand name over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line machinery.
The DC and Bi-Energy machinery provided by Genie offers emission-free, quiet operation even in the most delicate work settings. Where the machine must be driven significant distances, like for instance in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator along with the benefits of a 48V DC equipment.
Compared to any of the different types of aerial platforms, telescopic booms provide more horizontal reach overall. These machines are great for limited access places in construction and other industrial settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to offer utmost productivity. These machinery provide the drive speed and supreme traction you require to be able to travel around the work site and job area.
