Kinds of Construction Lifts or Boom Lifts
Construction lifts refer to the machines used to allow employees to locate high-up locations without building any scaffolding. They are used to work on elevated structures, to do maintenance work and are common machinery found in warehouse and factory settings as well.
Typically, construction lifts provide powered and wheeled bases which are capable of driving to the work location and have a platform on them which is responsible for elevating employees. There are lots of different types of lifts and every one is suitable to different tasks and settings.
Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks, which are usually referred to as "cherry-pickers", carry a long boom that has a bucket connected at the end. This bucket area is where an employee could stand. Normally, bucket trucks are used by landscapers and by utility workers. Landscapers often use these equipment to prune trees.
Bucket trucks are equipped with a boom assembly that is mounted on a standard truck, and this means these lifts could travel on roads at normal traffic speeds. This mobility really increases the area they can efficiently service. This is especially essential for power companies. For instance, a lot of these companies use cherry pickers to elevate workers up so they can reach and work on transmission lines. The buckets have to be regularly inspected and insulated properly as they are working close to potential shock hazards.
Articulated booms lifts or knuckle lifts have a work platform mounted to an arm that could bend and reach obstacles. The base of the lift contains a turntable and is capable of turning the lift in a full circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels as well for extra mobility.
Articulated boom lifts are utilized for landscaping projects and are useful for maintenance work on already-finished projects that do not need easy access to the area directly beneath the jobsite. These lifts can be used for exterior electrical work and to repair piping, and areas that are hard to clean. Usually knuckle lifts are driven by the employee in the platform with the boom extended.
