Inventor Jerome Case established the business of CASE in Racine, when he began the construction of threshing machinery. Later the business gained recognition internationally as the initial manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural use. By the year 1912, Case had become established within the construction equipment business. The rapidly started to manufacture road building equipment such as steam rollers and graders. Case grew their construction equipment business through various acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation during 1957. Case had expanded their business by the mid-1990s to become the top maker of light-sized to medium-sized construction machines.
Case merged with the corporation New Holland in the year 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This corporation became responsible for advertising several of the world's leading brands of agricultural and construction machines.
