On a forklift, there are a range of different means that lower and raise the lifts, including: rack and pinion lifts, scissor lifts, screw lifts, telescoping lifts and articulated lifts. The scissor lift utilizes crisscrossed folding supports with a screw mechanism which draws the members together. Rack and pinion lifts use a pinion, that is a small drive gear, to drive a straight-toothed rack to raise the cargo. The telescoping lift system is made with multiple sections that extend and retract out of and into each other to attain lifting action. Screw lifts utilize threads to raise the lift. Articulated lifts utilize a mechanism involving many sections which unfold or articulate. An articulated lift example is the "cherry picker."
Forklift Material Handling
There are numerous reasons to keep up with innovations in material handling methods. Material handling tools and the methods could be used to deal with increased geographical coverage, more SKUs, and the need to lower inventories. Machinery that are well ahead of the technological curve could help maximize efficiency and increase profitability.
Forklift Battery & Charging Technology
The newest innovations on electric forklifts have yielded higher capacities and longer run-times than ever before, which makes the choice to convert from the conventional IC forklift over to the improved electric units. Charger and battery combinations are offering more power for longer periods than older systems can achieve. Enhancements in battery and charger technologies are not just making electric lift trucks more beneficial but they are making it possible to have more environmentally friendly warehouse operations.
These new batteries are called Lithium-Ion Batteries or Li-ion batteries. This technology is still somewhat new, however Li-ion batteries show remarkable promise. They are not only smaller but could hold up to six times the charge of traditional lead acid batteries. Li-ion batteries have extremely low maintenance needs and are able to maximize opportunity charging through zero memory technology.
