Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by a variety of sources. They can run from LP gas or liquid propane, gasoline, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for various applications. There are some facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This enables forklifts to be refueled whenever they require. In other places, the facility will have spare LP cylinders that could be changed out when the machinery should be refueled.
So as to avoid potentially serious injury, certain safety measures should be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For example: be certain to put on the appropriate safety equipment like goggles or safety glasses and heavy gloves. Turn off the forklift ignition prior to changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed firmly. Utilize your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Remember that it would turn in the opposite direction of a standard connection and never use a metal tool or any type of wrench on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
